This is a remarkable and very important story, about humanity for God's sake! (Whether you believe in God or not)... The story of refugees is truly heartbreaking. At some point the more comfortable among us decide that they are not, in fact, humans with lives that have been broken and disrupted by other cruel humans. And yet they are met with anger (yes, anger) and contempt when they try to find another place to call home. Sad to say, there is not much sympathy for refugees on our little island, either. Our Government has a "rapid return" policy without any due process whatsoever for Haitian refugees, when Haitian men, women and children arrive on our shores exhausted and dehydrated in a dilapidated boat. Most Jamaicans agree with their Government - and obviously we are not Europeans. We don't want a wave of Haitians fleeing from their country where law and order has almost completely broken down. We just send them back to the hell they came from! Shameful.

It is indeed disappointing and frustrating that many governments as well as right-wing politicians have purposefully demonized and painted migrants and refugees as the enemy of their respective citizens.
All to suit their agenda of distracting people from the truth that it's the neoliberal, pro-capitalist system itself that's the cause behind the longstanding socioeconomic problems being endured by the average citizens.

So true and so sadly infuriating! The love of money is really the root of all evil
