the 90’s was a period of Cuban history when they were the recipients of some state sponsored “special operations” aka terrorism, Would anyone guess which state was the sponsor?
I went to Cuba long ago in the 1980's when it was very unpopular to go there! It was absolutely beautiful. Fidel was in and the days were great there! But really the U.S. punishes everyone who wants freedom! What does that mean? Are we jealous of freedom of sovereignty?
Excellent, well written piece. Myself and the wife visited a few years back to one of the resorts, Valadero. While there we had the chance to speak to the young educated and middle aged. On the whole they said they were happy, with the distinct undercurrent of wanting so much to get away. The impossible dream that was so far out of the reach, as transport out would be more than the yearly income. Politeness comes without monetary incentive. We loved our stay and from research beforehand, we make sure we took a spare suitcase full of the things we take for granted, toiletries and basic painkillers etc. The look of joy on their faces as we handed them out. Corruption is still king, the government turn a blind eye. Sadly we will not return in it's current transition.
Very thoughtful written piece, an enjoyable read.

The Revolution has had plenty of reform and it’s not corrupt. They do everything they can.
