There is so much the poor must do to stay alive that they find shameful and undignified because capitalism is about exploiting the many to enrich the few.
Unfortunately, at least among the younger feminists, it is glorified. There is even a slur for those of us who see it as inherently exploitative. But maybe the pendulum will shift to your 100% excellent take!
