Feeling loved as a child is even more important than not feeling anxious about money, but never being able to afford anything is horrible for a kid, for sure. I wonder how it's affecting all the kids who have grown up and are growing up in poverty due to the neoliberalism we have had for 45 years.

When Angela's Ashes was published, my Mum went to me "That was the life your Dad had as a boy. But it was worse because he didn't even get a sense of being loved."
