Well said John. You are, I think, on Substack and, to date, that doesn’t seem corrupt. I expect if’s a matter of time. As you say, you can’t be wealthy and not be a fascist.

I feel you, John. I'm an academic and I find it very important that academics don't just talk to each other but also engage in conversations with lots of other people. Twitter was the ideal forum for that. While it worked, it helped me to better understand how other people, who are not in academia, think of philosophy and why it is important for us. I was able to reach a wide audience. Now, it doesn't work anymore. I'm being swamped by bots and meaningless blue tick takes. It's getting harder to have a conversation. What a pity Musk ruined it all. He's in favor of free speech, but free speech is not only (as he seems to think) the ability to say bigoted things without losing your job. Free speech also requires an environment where people who are less powerful still have a voice, and twitter used to be that, even though it was never ideal (cf the old blue tick system).
